Course Overview
The Spook Rock Golf Course is a Golf Digest award-winning facility.
This 18 hole layout features gently rolling hills set in the historical Ramapo Mountains. With seven holes featuring water hazards over 55 sand bunkers, perimeter out of bounds, streams and gently sloping greens, this 150 acre layout with four seperate sets of teeing areas, offers a challenge to golfers of all ability.
The majority of the site was formerly known as Kane's Open, one of the first Boy Scout camps in the United States. Initial construction in 1969 featured the architectural design of Frank Duane, with re-design features provided by Steven Kay. Over the past two years, the course has undergone a complete irrigation replacement project with state of the art irrigation design, computerized operation and a system capable of providing water to every aspect of the course including primary and secondary rough areas.
The course features a thirty pad driving range. There are new driving range pads, new state of the art driving range mats, five newly constructed target greens featuring bent grass cut to green height, and an expanded sand bunker. The entire driving range has a newly constructed irrigation system. In addition, the range is fully lit for extended practice well after the course is closed.
Food and beverage is available on the course, at the grill room for the turn and after the round. The grill room features a full snack bar menu and a complete service bar area. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. For more formal arrangements, the chalet in the main clubhouse features catered events year round.
